Mark Knopfler will perform at the Coliseum on May 3
The Scottish musician Mark Knopfler, who was leader of the band Dire Straits, includes A Coruña in the six Spanish cities where he will perform next year to present his latest album, Down the road wherever, on a world tour. The concert will be held on May 3 at the Coliseum, according to the guitarist’s website. Tickets will be on sale on Tuesday, November 6 from ten in the morning.
Twenty-two years will separate the two Knopfler concerts in the city. The first, also the Coliseum, on July 22, 1996, on the tour that followed the dissolution of Dire Straits and the author’s first solo album under his arm. Next May the world tour of his latest work will take off in Barcelona on April 25 and will pass through Valencia (26), Madrid (28), Córdoba (29) and Lisbon (30) before arriving in A Coruña and continuing in Pamplona ( May 5th). Around him, up to ten musicians will accompany him on stage, most loyal bandmates with whom he has traveled the world playing new and old songs.
Who longs Knopfler punctures with Dire Straits will not miss them live. In their repertoires, Romeo and Juliet, Telegraph Road, So far away and Sultans of swing continue to sound, although Brothers in Arms and Money for nothing have been missing for years. Is to see what rescues and discards in the new tour to accompany the pieces of his new album.
